Student in Cat Costume Impresses Russian Teacher, Gets Lifetime of Good Grades

How far will you go to please a famously cat-obsessed professor?

One university student in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg came to class in a Garfield costume – and got a massive payoff for what could have gotten him kicked out elsewhere.

“A lifetime of passing grades!” the professor, Nadezhda Solopova of the Ural State University of Architecture and Art, is heard as saying in a video that surfaced on Thursday.

Solopova’s love for cats is so well-known that it earned her a dedicated page on Russian social media – where the Garfield costume video first appeared last year. According to photographs from the page posted by the E1.ru website, students regularly attend classes wearing cat ears or even bring live cats to lectures.

Meanwhile, Russia has one year left to reach President Vladimir Putin’s goal of landing at least five universities into the global top-100 rankings.
