Siberian Man Kills Coffin Maker Who Told Him to Get Into Casket

A Siberian man has been arrested for stabbing a coffin maker to death after the latter told him to climb into a casket, the regional Investigative Committee said in a statement Tuesday.

The 33-year-old suspect had gone to visit the coffin maker — an acquaintance of his — at the funeral home together with a family member in the Siberian town of Igarka in the Krasnoyarsk region on March 26, the statement said. The two men got into an argument, during which the coffin maker, 38, reportedly told the other man to “try out” the coffin he had just finished building. In response, the suspect pulled out a switchblade and proceeded to stab him more than 40 times.

The funeral parlor employee died on the spot, and the killer and his relative fled the scene, the statement said.

Investigators spent the last two months attempting to establish the circumstances of the murder and identify the suspect.
