A snowplow driver accused of dumping a pile of snow on a 10-year-old girl in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg has been charged with negligent homicide after the child died in a hospital without regaining consciousness, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement Sunday.
The driver confessed to the charge, the regional branch of the Investigative Committee said.
The girl had been in a coma since the Feb. 4 incident, when the snowplow driver allegedly dumped his truck's shovel of snow on the girl, the statement said. The driver apparently failed to notice a group of children playing near the spot where he unloaded the shovel, Russian media reports said earlier this month.
The girl died in an intensive care unit on Feb. 13 without regaining consciousness, the Investigative Committee said.
