Russian Prisoners Sculpt Life-Size Ballistic Missile out of Snow in Siberia
Russian prisoners have touched up their snow-sculpting skills by creating a life-size replica of a ballistic missile launcher in Siberia.
Last year, prisoners from the correctional institute in Siberia’s Omsk region created a huge snow replica of the Aurora naval cruiser to commemorate the centenary of the Bolshevik Revolution.
This time around, seven prisoners took 15 days to create a full-size Topol-M ballistic missile launcher, the Omsk regional branch of the Federal Penitentiary Service said on Tuesday.
The replica fell slightly short of the original’s specs, but was dyed bright green for authenticity, the penitentiary service said.
The prisoners had already won a prize for a rendition of the Topol-M at a snow sculpture competition in 2016 where they captured the jury with their attention to detail.
