Russian Police Find Stolen Guide Dog

Russian investigators have recovered a guide dog stolen from a blind woman in Moscow last week, they announced Thursday.

“Tell Yulia: Just as we promised, we've found her dog and are ready to hand her over at any time!” Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin wrote on Twitter.

Diana the golden labrador was found at a shelter in the satellite town of Domodedovo, the Gazeta.ru news site reported, citing local police.

Police said they were looking for a woman who had brought the dog to the shelter.

The dog was stolen from her owner, Yulia Dyakova, a singer who sometimes busks on the street, near the Profsoyuznaya metro station last Wednesday. Several people later reported overhearing a woman with a labrador on a suburban train telling a fellow passenger that people who beg with animals in underpasses should not be trusted and that she had saved the dog from exploitation.
