A group of migrants trying to enter Britain unnoticed in the back of a lorry found themselves faced with a polar bear traveling from Moscow, BBC reported Wednesday.

The 22-month-old male polar bear called Nissan was on his way to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England when four men jumped into the back of the lorry in Calais in northern France, the report said.

"Obviously [Nissan] was in a crate, so it was all very safe and secure, but I think they were a bit surprised,” an employee of the Yorkshire zoo, Simon Marsh, was cited as saying by the BBC.

Only one of the hitchhikers balked upon seeing his unexpected travel companion. The three other men remained with the polar bear, but were later intercepted by French police, the report said.
