Russian Party Descends Into Rape, Mass Murder

Two men have confessed to fatally stabbing five people and raping one of them, a 17-year-old girl, at a drunken party in Russia's southern Ural Mountain republic of Bashkortostan, investigators said Sunday.

Sergei Bukayev and Konstantin Surkov admitted to investigators that they killed the fellow partygoers, aged 16 to 22, after Bukayev accused one of them of stealing his mobile phone, in an apartment in the town of Kumertau, the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

Bukayev repeatedly stabbed the other guest in the neck and then grabbed his victim's live-in girlfriend and fatally stabbed her as well, the statement said.

After that, Bukayev and Surkov decided to kill the remaining witnesses and committed the rape in the process, the statement said. The suspects face up to 20 years in prison under Russian law.
