The Russian government has cut temporary residence quotas for foreign nationals and stateless individuals by 15,000 in 2017, according to a decree published Friday on the government's website.
Only 110,880 quotas are allocated for 2017, compared to 125,900 quotas for this year. In 2015, however, the number of quotas for 2016 was slashed by 25,000.

The number of quotas was calculated based on requests which regional authorities have put forward, as well as the “migration and economic situation in any given region,” the document says. The Central Federal District will get 33,400 quotas, the Privolzhsky Federal District – 19,050 quotas, the Southern Federal District – 11,600 quotas, the North-Western Federal District – 9,360 quotas, the North Caucasus Federal District – 6,450 quotas, and the Far Eastern Federal District – 6,430.
