Confusing Russian Airport Map Reimagines Planet Earth

soccernews.ru

A new terminal opened in the Volgograd International Airport earlier in May ahead of the city's 2018 World Cup hosting duties. But an official map displayed there might leave football fans confused.

The map shows cities that have direct flight connections to Volgograd, but few of these cities are placed in their correct geographical locations.

Moscow was placed on the border of Ukraine, while Sochi can be seen in northern Turkey. According to the map, UAE's Dubai is in Syria, Greece's Heraklion is in Bulgaria, Simferopol can be found in Moldova, while Samara and Chelyabinsk are in Kazakhstan.

Thailand’s popular holiday destination Phuket can be found within the borders of Iran.

The Volgograd Arena will host four group stage matches during the 2018 World Cup, which takes place from June 14 to July 15.
