Putin Urges Italy to 'Trust Russia'

Kremlin Press Service

Italian newspaper La Stampa has published an article signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging readers to “trust” the Kremlin.

The piece, titled “Time to Trust Russia: A Common Front Against Terrorism,” was published by the center-liberalist newspaper on Sunday.

The article was largely based on a speech made by Putin at the Valdai International Discussion Club in October.

In the speech, Putin claimed that international relations were “in a feverish state” and that “political and economic rules” were being constantly reshuffled to suit a few global powers.

He also used the speech to condemn NATO for refusing to address “real international problems” and urged world governments to unite in the fight against terrorism.

“The fight against terrorism and extremism should be seen in deeds and not in words,” Putin said. “It can only be won by a joining of efforts.”
