Putin Named Most-Trusted Russian Official — Poll

Russian President Vladimir Putin is continuing to enjoy an approval rating of over 80 percent for the sixth month in a row, a poll by the independent Levada Center revealed Wednesday.

While Putin's rating came in at 82 percent, other institutions fared less favorably. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev received a 55 percent approval rating, and the Russian government got 51 percent. The lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma, only received an approval rating of 42 percent.

Putin was also named as the most-trusted official, named by 53 percent respondents as trustworthy. He was followed by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with 24 percent.

Sixteen percent of respondents said they didn’t trust any Russian politicians, while 13 percent said that they weren’t interested in politics.

The center polled 1600 people from 48 different Russian regions.
