Navalny, Sobchak Are 'Russians to Watch'

Anti-corruption blogger Alexei Navalny, Yandex founder Arkady Volozh, socialite Ksenia Sobchak and two former judo partners of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin — Gennady Timchenko and Arkady Rotenberg — are "the Russians to watch," the Financial Times said Friday.

The British daily compiled a 25-strong list of Russia's "movers and shakers," divided into four categories — politics, journalism/blogs/activism, entertainment and business.

The list includes some predictable names, such as the Kremlin's gray cardinal Vladislav Surkov, Kommersant reporter Oleg Kashin and film director Valeria Gai Germanika.

Other entrants are less expected, such as Igor Kalyapin of the Nizhny Novgorod Committee Against Torture and Russia's outspoken envoy to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin.

Neither Putin nor President Dmitry Medvedev made it onto the list.
