Muscovites Rally Against Expansion of Paid Parking Zone

Several hundred people signed a petition demanding the dismissal of Maxim Liksutov, deputy mayor and head of Moscow's transport department, during a protest rally against the expansion of the paid parking zone on Tuesday evening, Russian media reported.

Some 500-600 people took part in the rally in northeast Moscow, Kommersant newspaper reported. The crowd was protesting the introduction of paid parking on another 95 streets from Oct. 10 that will cover 23 districts between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD).

Several Moscow City Duma deputies took part in the protest, along with district officials and activists protesting against the paid parking zone in the city center.
