A Cold War erupted outside the U.S. Embassy in Moscow this week when a 40-year-old Muscovite reportedly pelted its gates with snowballs before getting arrested.
Diplomatic security staff apprehended the man early on Monday before turning him over to local police, the state-run REN TV network reported.
“When Konstantin Sh. was taken to the precinct, police got the impression that he was not entirely mentally sane,” the broadcaster wrote in its report on Tuesday.
“Besides, the man could not articulate his behavior intelligibly.”
Medics reportedly sent the Cold Warrior to a mental health facility.
Russian media outlets were quick to term the incident a revival of the Cold War.
