More than 70 percent of Russians would vote for Russian President Vladimir Putin in the next presidential election, a survey by the state-run VTsIOM pollster revealed, the state-run RIA Novosti reported Thursday.
“Willingness to vote for Putin in the next presidential election rose to 74 percent at the start of 2016 — the highest figure in four years,” according to the pollster.
According to the figures, 15 percent of those surveyed said they were not planning on voting for Putin and a further 11 percent said they could not answer the question.
However, almost half of those surveyed (47 percent) believe that part of what was promised by Putin in the 2012 election campaign has been implemented but a significant amount of promises have not been fulfilled.
The poll was conducted from Jan. 23-24, with 1,600 people from 130 regions and republics in Russia. The statistical margin of error does not exceed 3.5 percent.
