Hollywood's Oliver Stone Wants to Make Film About Putin

Nov 5, 2014 — 19:21

Hollywood producer and director Oliver Stone has announced plans to make a documentary film about Russian President Vladimir Putin, a plan which the Kremlin said Thursday that it had already been made aware of.

"I would love to do an interview with him … because he represents a different point of view that Americans don't hear," Stone was cited as saying by RIA Novosti on Thursday.

Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later told RIA Novosti that “we are aware of Stone's desire to make a film,” adding that the president had met with Stone on Nov. 4 at an event in remembrance of Russian actor and director Vasily Shukshin.

Stone was in Moscow for work on his film on U.S. whistleblower Edward Snowden, who was granted a three-year residency permit in Russia after fleeing prosecution in the U.S.

Filming for Stone's movie on the intelligence leaker, “The Snowden Files,” is expected to get under way early next year.
