Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) claims it has detained two more "Ukrainian saboteurs" in Crimea. Russia's state-owned Channel One showed the interrogation of Alexei Stogny and Gleb Shably, who were arrested last week, on the Sunday evening program "Weekly News with Dmitry Kiselyov." A source close to the case confirmed their detention to the Interfax news agency on Monday.
Russian authorities claimed that both men were ranking officers in the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's intelligence service. According to this version of the story, the two men were working undercover as businessmen while secretly engaging in intelligence-gathering activities.
"The mission was objects, infrastructure, ships of the Black Sea fleet, and personal data on officers serving in the Black Sea Fleet," Stogny said during his interrogation.
On Nov. 9, the FSB claimed to have arrested three members of a "terrorist group" acting on behalf of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. According to their version of events, Dmitry Shtyklibov, Vladimir Dudko, and Alexei Bessarabov planned to commit acts of sabotage against the military and civilian infrastructure of the Crimean peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in March 2014. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has denied any connection to the so-called "saboteurs."
