Russia's former head of elections Vladimir Churov accused U.S. President Barack Obama of breaking his 2012 promise of election reform in an interview with the RIA Novosti news agency.
Churov said that "the winning candidate promised in his speech to reform the electoral law in the U.S." in accordance with recommendations from Russian observers, but that no reforms had been launched.
"The election campaign of 2016, four years later, has all the features that were inherent in the election campaign in 2012," Churov said.
Churov also said that the midterm congressional elections in 2014, which had also been monitored by Russian observers, were more transparent, competitive, and carried out with a more understandable procedure.
