Bear Cub Rescued From Drowning in Russia's Siberia

Residents of the mountain town of Tashtagol in Russia's Siberia have rescued a bear cub separated from its mother, local news website sibnovosti.ru reported Friday.

The mother bear and her three cubs were trying to cross a river when the strong-flowing water swept the babies away. Locals managed to fish one of the bear cubs out of the river and kept it in a bathtub before handing it over to rangers at the Shorsky National Park, sibnovosti.ru reported.

Animal experts say that the 3-month-old bear is too young to be released back into the wild and intend to place the animal in a zoo.

The town of Tashtagol is located in the Kemerovo region, 3,000 kilometers from Moscow.
