Russia's Olympic athletes flying home from Brazil's Rio de Janerio saw their flight delayed by over four hours after a giant matryoshka doll became trapped in an airport door frame.

The doll had been on display throughout the Games in Rio's "Russia House," a base for fans of the Russian team.

"Hilarious! A matryoshka from Russia House is stuck in the airport door," Dmitry Simonov, deputy editor-in-chief of Russian sport website Sport Express' wrote on Twitter. "Nobody knows what to do with it."

The plane has since departed, carrying Russia's gold medalists from the synchronized swimming, handball, gymnastics, wrestling, boxing and modern pentathlon events, the Lenta news outlet reported Tuesday. Russian finished fourth in the Olympic medal table, despite seeing many of their athletes banned from the Games over doping accusations.
