Renovations of the Moscow metro will force the full closure of the Baumanskaya and Frunzenskaya stations for about a year, the Interfax news agency reported Thursday.
The closure of the Dark Blue line’s Baumanskaya station will come into effect on Feb. 8 and last for 11 months while the station's interior is repaired and its escalators replaced, Moscow metro head Dmitry Pegov told Interfax Thursday.
Pegov said the Moscow metro has yet to determine a specific timeline for repairs on the Red Line's Frunzenskaya station, Interfax reported. He added that the station could be closed between 11 months and one year, starting as early as June.
Passengers will be offered multiple alternative bus routes during the repairs, according to the Moscow metro's website.
Repairs will also be conducted on two other stations — Prospekt Mira on the Circle Line and the Orange Line's Botanichesky Sad station — in the upcoming year, Pegov said. Passengers will still be able to use those stations, but will have to use alternative entrances during the renovations.
