Is it safe to jog in Russia?

Running is becoming more popular in Russia. Runners are no longer identified as either crazed Olympic-level athletes or fugitives on the run from the police. That said, Russia - and Moscow in particular - is still not a runner’s paradise. While the views might be good, the pollution can be unbearable and there is little consideration given to runners on city streets. Many Russian runners opt to exercise in fitness clubs, but these can be costly and sometimes require a long-term membership. If you do choose to run outside, some good Moscow parks are: Gorky Park, Sokolniki, Izmailovsky and Kolomenskoye. Tip from a local: There are free group park runs in parks across Moscow, for example every Saturday 9 a.m. in Gorky Park. You can find the full list here
