Sberbank Funds Team-Building Session for Governors

Sberbank will fund a three day training course this month for the country's governors, who will attend lectures by foreign experts and watch patriotic films in a luxury 5-star hotel outside Moscow, a news report said Friday.

The presidential administration and state owned Sberbank have finalized the program of a "seminar-meeting" with governors, under the title "Contemporary Management Technologies," that will run June 13 -15 in the Imperial Park Hotel and Spa outside Moscow, two sources told Vedomosti.

The focus will be on how to structure management in large-scale teams, said Sberbank's vice president, Anna Popova, who is supervising the project.

Governors from all regions, regardless of party affiliation, have been invited, because the important thing is not political views, but the development of the country, an official in the presidential administration said.

The seminar is broken down into seven units. These include: the basics of strategic management in the 21st century; the creation of cultures and environments that facilitate positive change; effective delegation of responsibility; motivation and management of personnel.

For each of the themes world renowned, respected professionals in their fields have been chosen, said Popova. Governors will listen to presentations from, among others, Beth Noveck of the New York Law School, who headed the Open Government Initiative in Barack Obama's White House from 2009 — 2011; David Teece of the University of California, who directs the Institute for Business Innovation; Blair Sheppard, PwC's global strategy and leadership development leader; Alan R May, vice president for human resources at Boeing.
