Have some spare time this autumn and looking to delve deeper into the mysteries of the Russian soul? The upcoming “Exploring Russian Culture” course organized by the Educational Division of the Moscow Department of Culture could be just the ticket. Through Dec.14, participants can enjoy bi-weekly lectures from leading figures in the cultural world, such as literary critic Konstantin Milchin and art historian and curator Sasha Obukhova. The best part? It's absolutely free.

Show US Film Festival 

Delve into the mysteries of the planet

“Show US,” a festival of new American documentary film, will take place at the Gorizont cinema this week. The headliner is Leonardo Di Caprio-narrated and produced “Before the Flood,” a film that looks at how climate change impacts the world today and what effect will it have on our future. The eco-theme continues with “Racing Extinction” by Oscar-winning director Louie Psihoyos, a film about endangered species and the fight to save them from extinction. Another highlight is a documentary “City of Gold” about Pulitzer Prize-winning restaurant critic Jonathan Gold’s complex relationship with the food and culture of Los Angeles.

Speransky Hospital Charity Concert

Superb Music for Charity

The Speranksy Hospital Fund gives support to Russia’s biggest pediatric burns center, which runs much-needed programs for the pyscho-social rehabilitation of children who suffer burns. A charity concert at the Lutheran church on Tuesday Nov. 15 will raise money to support the fund. Expect organ, saxophone and Armenian duduk music, a lively atmosphere and plenty of good cheer. The recommended donation is 1000 rubles and tickets can be bought in advance or on the door.
