The Fifth Russia–Italia Film Festival (RIFF): Still More Guests And Film-Makers From Italy
The fifth, jubilee edition of the Russia–Italia Film Festival (RIFF), the most full-scaleof the Italian film forums in Russia is undergoing transformation — the new format it willassume, implies 12 premieres and 12 encounters with star guests from Italy within a year.
Each screening within the RIFF scope will also appear an all-Russian premiere becoming the venue of Q&A meetings with directors, actors, producers, accompanied by lectures, masterclasses, workshops dedicated to both new and classic Italian cinema, to the Italian life philosophy, as well as to the language.
On December the 5th the Big Hall of Karo Oktyabr Film Multiplex will host the all-Russian premiere of the new episode of the most acclaimed Italian comedy franchise of recent years “I Can Quit Whenever I Want. Revolution” by S. Sibillia, with the participation of the movie creators.
Pietro Zinni (Edoardo Leo), a brilliant neurobiologist, loses his job at the university because of the financial crisis. Without any reasonable chance to find another contract, Pietro assembles a team of ex-researchers like him — a chemist, a cultural anthropologist, an economist, an archaeologist, and two Latin scholars — to produce a little-known smart drug that is not yet illegal under Italian law.

More to the bill there is “A trainee” adventurous comedy by V. Attanasio, a drama “Made in Italy “filmed by L. Ligabue and a noir detective “The last prosecco” (A. Padovan) and others.
Summer is comedy time and from May till September RIFF viewers all over Russia will be enjoying 5 best new Italian comedies.
The sequence of the best Italian one-reelers set ITALIAN BEST SHORTS–3 (which received a warm welcome years before) is on the programme too.
Along with spectators and guests there will be a professional jury to watch the films - directors, scriptwriters, film experts, actors. The RIFF prize “Red Carpet” will be awarded by this contest panel at the closing ceremony. This official prize of our festival had been designed by the world-famous artist Marco Bravura (his artistic installations are represented in a plenty of the world capitals and his work “Ardea Purpurea” included on the UNESCO list of Adriatic heritage).
Spectators` voting will be under way during the entire year (together with the jury voting). And the winner will be given the Audience Award.
Festival screenings will go hand in hand with educational programmes, lectures, workshops, masterclasses dedicated to the Italian language, cinema, culture. All the displays will take place in the original, with Russian subtitles.
