The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has appealed the court's decision to put the owner of Moscow's Domodedovo Airport Dmitry Kamenschik under house arrest, the Interfax news agency reported Saturday.
The ruling was also appealed by Kamenschik's defense. Both appeals will be considered by the Moscow City Court along with case materials, Interfax reported.
Kamenschik is accused of providing services that did not meet safety requirements, resulting in the terrorist act in January 2011.
According to the investigation, Kamenschik participated in the establishment of a new examination system at the airport entrances that "led to an increase of vulnerability of the airport," Interfax reported.
As a result, the terrorist easily entered the terminal with an explosive device hidden under his clothing. 37 people were killed and 172 were wounded by the explosion, Interfax reported.
Kamenschik faces five years of forced labor or up to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
