Russian Foreign Ministry Accuses Euronews of 'Discrediting Itself'
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has lashed out at the English language branch of the Euronews channel, calling their work a “blow from within” for “discrediting” the news outlet.
Euronews had mistakenly used an image from a fake Twitter account for Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in one of its TV reports, the RBC news website reported Tuesday.
Zakharova posted a screen shot of the TV report and the fake Twitter account onto her Facebook page, where she wrote, “Everything is great apart from one thing – Sergei Lavrov does not have a Twitter account.”
The tweet did not appear on the Russian language version of the article, and has since been removed from the English language edition.
