Omnivores Come to Moscow

At last year's Moscow festival, a small food fan shows what "omnivore" means.

The sixth annual Omnivore Festival in Moscow will start on Wednesday April 13 and go through Saturday. Omnivore originally started in France in 2005, but it has now become a series of events called Omnivore World Tour that is held all over the globe. The festival's main goal is to help and promote young and talented chefs by providing them with a platform to showcase their work.

Omnivore 2016 is taking place at DI Telegraph, trendy loft space on the top floor of the old telegraph building that is a 5-minute walk from Red Square. On Wednesday and Thursday there will be pop-up dinners — collaborations between Russian and foreign chefs. Ivan Shishkin of Delicatessen fame will work with Maksut Askar from Istanbul, while Timur Abuzyarov (Wine Religion, Beer Happens) will cook something up together with Ed Wilson from London.

On Thursday and Friday sixteen workshops will be held at DI Telegraph. Among the presenters will be the Bezrutskiy brothers of the Twin restaurant, Georgy Troyan from Severyane, as well as Parisian chefs Amauri Guyot and Taku Sekine.

On Friday night the main happening will take place — the famous Omnivorous Party, one of the major culinary events in Moscow. All the chefs will cook something special for the occasion, drinks will flow and DJs will spin.
