The International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) has decided not to take action on a complaint filed against Russia's Prosecutor General Yury Chaika, by oppositioner Alexei Navalny, the Interfax news agency reported Wednesday.
IAP has spoken with Chaika and received his comments regarding the information mentioned in the complaint, Interfax reported.
After examining both documents, the IAP executive committee has unanimously decided that there is no information in the complaint that may become a basis for any actions against Chaika, the agency said.
Earlier this week Swiss prosecutors also refused to initiate criminal proceedings requested by Navalny against Artyom Chaika, the prosecutor general's s son.
IAP is a professional association of prosecutors from more than 250 countries and was established in 1995 and is based in The Hague, in the Netherlands. Yury Chaika is the member of the IAP's Senate, the managing body.
In December 2015 Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation released "Chaika," an investigative film that accused Chaika's family members, including his two sons, of involvement in shady business deals and various other illegal activities.
