Half-Naked Lone Picketer Demands Summer

A mostly naked picketer demanded the start of summer in front of Moscow's main meteorology center on Friday, a news report said.

The man, wearing nothing but flimsy swim trunks in 3 degrees Celsius weather, stood in front of the building on Bolshoi Predtechensky Pereulok with a sign reading "summer better get here soon," Vesti.ru reported.

Photographs of the incident took Twitter by storm after the person who posted the photos, Maria Tsitsyurskaya, wrote: "Some crazy person is picketing in front of the meteorology center, demanding summer."

Police have not confirmed the report, however.

"We haven't heard anything about people in swim trunks or pickets today," a police spokesperson in the Presnensky district said.

Meteorologists took the picketer's demands seriously, however, and Dmitry Kiktyev, deputy director of the meteorology center, commented shortly after the reports.

"His demands will be met next week, temperatures will be better, and everything will melt quickly. So we'll meet him halfway," Kiktyev said in comments carried by Vesti.ru.
