Actor Andrei Panin Found Dead With Head Injury
Famous Russian actor Andrei Panin, aged 50, was found dead at his apartment on Thursday, a news report said.
Panin was discovered around 11 a.m. at his home in southwest Moscow, Gazeta.ru reported. The preliminary cause of death is a head injury, possibly caused by an accidental fall.
"Most likely, Panin's death had no criminal element to it. According to preliminary information, the actor felt sick, fell down and hit his head," a police source said in comments carried by RIA-Novosti.
"Andrei Panin's body was found with head trauma at 18 Balaklavsky Prospekt on Thursday," an Interior Ministry spokesman told the news agency.
Panin's friends and relatives had reportedly been unable to reach him by phone for four days. A friend discovered his body on Thursday when he stopped by to visit, the police source said.
Police said there were no signs of robbery, but investigators are still working at the scene.
Panin, famous for the films "Driver for Vera," "Kamenskaya," "Wedding" and "Bastards," played about 60 roles in his career.
