Skolkovo School of Management rector Andrei Sharonov may be elected chairman of the supervisory board of state-owned diamond mining group Alrosa at a shareholders' meeting next year, a news report said Tuesday.
Sharonov, who served as Moscow's deputy mayor in charge of economic policy before leaving for Skolkovo in September, has been nominated as a possible candidate for the board and is likely to be elected chairman, Vedomosti reported, citing the rector's associates and officials close to Alrosa and its shareholders. Sharonov declined to comment.
He would replace former Antimonopoly Minister Ilya Yuzhanov, who has headed the Alrosa supervisory board since 2011.
An extraordinary shareholders' meeting to vote on supervisory board members is scheduled for Dec. 20, but Sharonov is not included among the candidates for this election.
