The holiday season has not yet started in earnest, but this weekend music lovers get some big presents as a few big names play Moscow.
Carl Barat is the less famous — or less infamous — half of the Libertines. Barat reunited with his frenemy Pete Doherty this year, released a new album and even came to Moscow to play at one of the largest summer festivals. This Thursday you can see his solo project, Carl Barat and the Jackals, at Sixteen Tons. Just like Doherty's side project (Baby Shambles), the Jackals' sound unmistakably reminds you of the Libertines. Carl Barat and the Jackals just recorded their debut album "Let It Reign" to positive reviews. This is definitely a concert not to be missed by indie-rock fans.

IAMX
This Saturday another high-profile British band will be playing at Yotaspace. IAMX is still referred to as a solo project of Chris Corner, formerly of the Sneaker Pimps. But IAMX has been around for quite some time and released more albums than Sneaker Pimps — the latest as recently as last October. Its trademark mix of trip-hop and synth-pop has earned many fans around the world. Moscow is no exception, so hurry up and get your tickets!

Dewar's Powerhouse is celebrating its second anniversary this Friday with a massive party. The headliner is the Australian group Bad Tropes bringing their indie-pop from Berlin. Two other live performances are expected: NV, a solo project by Glintshake's front woman Kate Shilonosova, and SRKP — side project of the members of Pinkshinyultrablast, which just received the Band of the Year award at the Jagermeister Indie Awards.

Leningrad
Russian pop-rock heavyweights Leningrad don't need an introduction. They will be playing Stadium Live for two nights in a row — Friday and Saturday. Expect a fully packed venue, dancing and lots of below-the-belt humor from front man Shnur.

Quest Pistols
Ukrainian pop bands have become such a permanent fixture on the Moscow scene that a new term has been coined: ukrpop. One of the better known representatives of ukrpop, the Quest Pistols, recently rebranded as the Quest Pistols Show, will play a concert on Saturday at one of the city's most elite venues — Crocus City Hall.
