Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina will spend 90 more days in solitary confinement "for safety reasons," a news report said Wednesday.
Alyokhina has been in isolation since November, but the prison's administration has decided to grant her request to stay there longer, RIA-Novosti reported, citing a source in the Perm branch of the Federal Prison Service.
"Alyokhina does not want to serve her sentence with other inmates, believing that she was wrongly convicted," he said, stressing that the prison's authorities put her in an isolated cell at her request after she said she needed to be in a "safe place."
Together with the other band members, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekaterina Samutsevich, Alyokhina was sentenced to two years imprisonment on Aug. 17, 2012 for the group's "punk prayer" performance in Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral on Feb. 21, 2012.
