Almost 9 billion rubles ($276 million) will be allocated from the regional and federal budgets for the restoration of flood-affected Krymsk, a news release on the Krasnodar region's website said Sunday.
Governor Alexander Tkachyov told residents of the decision during his daily survey of the town.
"We will restore the town, social facilities and infrastructure. We will build a new neighborhood, which will have a school and a hospital. Almost 9 billion rubles will be allocated for the revival of Krymsk from the federal and regional budgets," Tkachyov said, according to the statement.
In other comments to residents, he specified that 4 billion rubles would come from the regional government, Interfax reported.
Meanwhile, Tkachyov said the number of homes rendered uninhabitable by flooding has reached nearly 1,400. He said displaced residents should move to new residences by November.
Intense flooding devastated Gelendzhik, Novorossiisk, Krymsk and several villages in the Krasnodar region on July 7. About 19,000 people lost all their belongings, and electricity, gas and water supplies were interrupted, as well as road and rail traffic. The Emergency Situations Ministry said at least 171 people died during the floods.
