Ukrainian Rocket Attack on Belgorod Kills At Least 6

At least six people were killed in a Ukrainian rocket attack in the western Belgorod region, local authorities said Monday morning.

In a post on Telegram, Acting Belgorod region Governor Aleksander Shuvaev said four others were wounded in the attack, which took place in the village of Koloskovo, located around 24 kilometers (15 miles) from the border with Ukraine.

Shuvaev said a 14-year-old was among the injured. He said the rocket attack also damaged a “structure” and a vehicle.

In a separate drone strike in the southern Astrakhan region, local authorities said a woman was killed. They said the drones targeted an industrial facility but did not provide further details.

The deadly attacks came a day after Russia and Ukraine exchanged strikes deep inside each other’s territories, killing 19 people on both sides.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 205 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Several airports in southern Russia introduced temporary flight restrictions amid the overnight attacks.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
