In Photos: Russia's Largest Volcano Erupts on Kamchatka
Klyuchevskaya Sopka, a volcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, has been erupting since Oct. 15, sending plumes of lava up to 500 meters in the air.
The volcano previously erupted in June, but the local volcanological station noted that the lava flows this time were reaching unusual heights.
Local authorities were on high alert.

Klyuchevskaya Sopka, at 4,754 meters tall, is Eurasia's tallest active volcano.

The volcanological station in the village of Klyuchi, 30 kilometers away, told TASS: "Currently, lava fountains on the Klyuchevskoi volcano rise up to 500 meters above the edge of the volcano’s summit crater."
