In Photos: Ukraine Displays Destroyed Russian Tanks, Marks National Flag Day
Ukrainian officials and citizens this week are marking their country's independence with a number of events.
In central Kyiv, destroyed Russian tanks and other military vehicles were lined up along the city's main street for public display.
And on Wednesday, President Volodymyr Zelensky and military officials took part in a flag-raising ceremony to mark National Flag Day at the Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.
Thursday marks Independence Day, which is celebrated on Aug. 24 each year to mark the date of Ukraine's Declaration of Independence in 1991, and is the country's main state holiday.
This year's Independence Day falls exactly 18 months after the start of Russia's invasion.
