President Vladimir Putin visited Russia’s week-long Vostok 2022 war games with China, India and other ally nations Tuesday.
The scaled-down drills went ahead despite Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Putin was seen accompanied by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Valery Gerasimov, the head of the Russian Armed Forces.
The military maneuvers involved more than 50,000 troops and 5,000 weapons units, including 140 aircraft and 60 warships. But they were significantly smaller than the same exercises held in 2018.
