In Photos: Mikhail Gorbachev's Funeral
Mikhail Gorbachev, who was buried in Moscow on Saturday, was one of the most important political figures of the 20th century.
At a farewell ceremony in Moscow, thousands of Russians lined up to pay their final respects to the man credited with helping to bring an end to the Cold War.
But Gorbachev did not receive a state funeral and most top officials, including President Vladimir Putin, stayed away.
After a lying in state, Gorbachev was taken to Moscow's Novodevichy Cemetery, where he was buried in a grave alongside his wife, Raisa, who died of cancer in 1999.
