In Photos: Russian Forces Target Ukrainian Capital, Crisis Ensues

Over three weeks into the invasion, Russian forces continue their attack on the Ukrainian capital.

Two residential buildings were hit and two people wounded during several explosions in Kyiv early Wednesday.

As Russian shelling intensified, the city was placed under curfew due to what Kyiv’s mayor Vitali Klitschko described as a “difficult and dangerous moment.”

"This is why I ask all Kyivites to get prepared to stay at home for two days, or if the sirens go off, in the shelters," Klitschko said.

A Russian missile attack hit a residential building in Kyiv's Sviatoshynsky district on Tuesday.

The attack set the apartment building on fire, killing at least 4 people and injuring 40.

Several other buildings in Sviatoshynsky were also hit.

The attack was launched just hours before Russia-Ukraine peace talks were set to resume.

Leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia traveled to Kyiv Tuesday in an unprecedented show of support to Ukraine as Russian shelling rampaged across the country.

The war forced more than 3 million people to flee Ukraine to neighboring countries, including children.

Half of Kyiv’s population has left the city to escape the bombardment by the Russian forces.

Over 100 Ukrainian children have died since the start of Russia's invasion, officials say.
