St. Petersburg Man Takes a Wakeboard Ride Down Flooded City Street

Mike Milenin / Instagram

When a rainy day foils your plans, all that’s left to do is surf away the blues — even if you’re in Russia’s second-largest city and nowhere near the beach.

After a heavy rainfall submerged St. Petersburg’s roads in water, Russian wakeboarder Mike Milenin saw the opportunity and took it, hopping on his board for a thrilling ride through a giant puddle.

The video posted to Milenin’s Instagram shows him being towed by a car through the city surf, pulling off a few impressive jumps and pivots as lightning flashes in the sky.

St. Petersburg’s fontanka.ru news website later tracked down the wakeboarder and learned that the video had been filmed for an advertisement — so maybe don’t try this one at home.

… we have a small favor to ask. As you may have heard, The Moscow Times, an independent news source for over 30 years, has been unjustly branded as a "foreign agent" by the Russian government. This blatant attempt to silence our voice is a direct assault on the integrity of journalism and the values we hold dear.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. Our commitment to providing accurate and unbiased reporting on Russia remains unshaken. But we need your help to continue our critical mission.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and you can be confident that you're making a significant impact every month by supporting open, independent journalism. Thank you.
