Engelpekar
Viennese bakery on Mosow's Golden Mile
Engelpekar is a new Viennese bakery on Ostozhenka, Moscow's Golden Mile. The flour is imported from Austria, you are greeted by a busty blond in a traditional outfit, and Austrian tunes blare from the radio. It's mostly take-out. The sandwiches are great, especially the mozzarella and tomato (259 rubles) or ham and cheese (249 rubles). Try the sweet cheese pastry (209 rubles) with Viennese melange coffee (239 rubles).

Lucky Burger
Best burger joint for the money
All burgers at Lucky Burger are served on brioche buns with a special twist. For example, the Terminator has slices of ginger, and the lamb burger has sulguni cheese and coriander. Also on offer are chicken wings, coleslaw and corn on the cob. Try the Terminator and a drink made from sea buckthorn or blackcurrant. For pescatarians, the Fishman burger is a great alternative.

Offshore Bar
A drink with a view
Located on an island, Offshore Bar has a room with a large screen for movie nights and other events and a second, quieter room. The food is decent; try the artichoke and tuna salad (510 rubles) or rice with Kung Pao chicken (390 rubles). But cocktails are this place's specialty. We recommend Tailored or Pink Panther (both 490 rubles). Snag a table by the window and enjoy the view.

Scrocchiarella
A taste of Rome
Scrocchiarella specializes in authentic Italian pizzas, traditionally baked on a wooden board in a stone pizza oven. This place keeps it simple: an open kitchen looks out over wooden benches, dangling ceiling lamps and plenty of exposed brick. You can opt for a slice, a medium or a Goliath 80-centimeter pizza to fight over with friends and family. Soups and pasta are also available.

A Message from The Moscow Times:
Dear readers,
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."
These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.
We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.
Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
Remind me later.
