Aerosmith Frontman Sings With Busker on Moscow Street

Singer Steven Tyler of Aerosmith performs during a concert to celebrate City Day in central Moscow, Sept. 5.

video of Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler singing the band's anthem "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" together with a street musician in the center of Moscow caused a media storm over the weekend in anticipation of the rock band's massive free concert on Lubyanskaya Ploshchad on Saturday evening.

The busker, Alexander Anisimov, was performing the power ballad on Kuznetsky Most on Friday evening, when Tyler, who was reportedly walking around Moscow, joined in.

"I didn't recognize him at all. A foreigner came up to me and started singing along. … 'He sings well,' I thought. But when he started to sing louder and more confidently, it dawned on me who it was. I was stunned," Anisimov was cited by the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper as saying Sunday.

Aerosmith's concert on Saturday was part of City Day celebrations.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
