Temperatures in Moscow will continue to rise gradually and may top 13 degrees Celsius by the end of the week, weather forecasters said Wednesday.
Weather in recent days has been affected by a high-pressure system that caused a smattering of clouds and huge temperature differences throughout the day.
The temperature dropped to minus 5 degrees on Wednesday morning but was expected to rise to 8-9 degrees during the day, Interfax reported, citing a weather bureau official.
He said night temperatures would stay below freezing for the next few days and hover around freezing over the weekend.
The temperature is expected to reach 8-9 degrees on Thursday before warming up to 10-11 degrees on Friday and 13 degrees by Sunday.
The weather in and around Moscow is to stay mostly dry throughout the next week.

A Message from The Moscow Times:
Dear readers,
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."
These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.
We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.
Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
