Moscow police have initiated a criminal investigation into illegal construction on the territory of Tushinsky Park in the northwestern part of the city, the prosecutor's office announced Monday, Interfax reported.
"Its been determined that in the village of Novobutakova unidentified individuals are carrying out construction work, including building of cement foundations and brick walls, without having obtained property rights. As a result of the illegal actions, ground soil and greenery has been damaged and destroyed, according to the prosecutor's statement. Losses amount to 242 million rubles ($7.8 million).
The prosecutor has sent information on the case to the city department responsible for illicit construction.
