If the Moscow rain and snow is getting you down, drop by the Italian Christmas Bazaar this Sunday, hosted by the Italian Women’s Association in partnership with the Italian Embassy, for a touch of the Mediterranean in Moscow.
The bazaar’s intention is to get everyone in the Christmas spirit, with a lineup of all-Italian vendors displaying wine, panettone and fashionable fare, a raffle, with the chance to win a weeklong trip to Venice, and the promise of guilt-free seasonal shopping — the event’s proceeds go to Russian charities.
Based on past years’ attendances, organizers are expecting a crowd of about 1,000 people. The peak crowd time will likely be around 1:30 p.m. when the Venice vacation raffle draw is set to take place.
Event organizer, Sabina Zanardi Landi, who is also the wife of the Italian ambassador, summed up the bazaar as “lots of people working together in a great atmosphere for a good cause.”
The Italian Christmas Bazaar is on Sunday at the Italian Embassy, 5 Denezhny Pereulok. Metro Smolenskaya. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free admission.
A Message from The Moscow Times:
Dear readers,
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."
These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.
We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.
Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
Remind me later.
