A 35-year-old mother died and her baby was injured after a dump truck smashed into their house in the Perm region, police said.
The KamAZ truck rammed into the one-story house early Sunday in the town of Kungur, causing the collapse of a wall.
The mother and her baby were rushed to the hospital along with the truck's driver and his passenger, but the mother later died of her injuries, police said.
The baby, who is less than 1 year old, suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and was expected to make a full recovery.
Police were investigating why the truck crossed over into the opposite lane and smashed into the house. The truck driver was being tested to see whether he had drank alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
About 30,000 people die in traffic accidents in Russia annually. The accidents are attributed to a poor condition of roads and traffic violations, including drunk driving, running red lights and crossing into the oncoming lane.

A Message from The Moscow Times:
Dear readers,
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."
These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.
We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.
Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
