A 19-year-old boxer was found stabbed to death at a crosswalk in the southern Russian city of Krasnodar, in what investigators believe was the result of a financial dispute.
Rasul Gadzhimagomedov, a junior-level boxer who grew up in the restive Dagestan region, was stabbed in the neck on Sunday night when he and friend went to meet a third individual who owed money to a mutual acquaintance and a fight erupted, investigators said in a statement.
The third individual has yet to be identified, and an investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident, the statement said. The boxer had been attending the city's Kuban State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.
