An Amur region court placed a curfew on a local resident after he stole a flag from a local administration building while drunk and scrawled a declaration of love to his sweetheart on it, a news report said Thursday.
The unidentified lover is now banned for the next four months from leaving home between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. or leaving the village of Albazinka, where he lives, RIA-Novosti reported.
Prosecutors said he must also register with authorities once a month.
It was unclear Thursday whether the lover's sweetheart was even aware of the passionate gesture.
"He [the convicted lover] doesn't remember where he left the flag after he wrote his declaration of love," prosecutors said, adding that a local court found him guilty of desecrating Russia's state flag.
